Bacteria and Parasites...Good Bye!

There are a lot of bugs, bacteria, and parasites that live in nature. Sometimes they wreak havoc on your body. Even if you are eating a clean diet, detoxing once a quarter is a good idea. The length of time is dependent on the person and what type of detox you are doing. Most detox programs are for at least a week. If you've been partying it up and living the LIFE, a longer detox may be worthwhile.

There are a few detoxes that I love. I would say these are more hard-core cleanses. They must be planned within your daily routine and required advanced preparation. They get sluggish bowels moving and are HIGHLY effective. The recommended diet protocol directly supports the cleansing process and overall gut health.

  • 7-day Liver and Gallbladder Flush by Andreas Moritz

  • Holistic ReEngineering 14-Day parasite cleanse by Dr. Bobby Price (my current go-to!)

  • 10-day Green Smoothie Cleanse by JJ Smith

These are all very different approaches to cleansing. All of which are difficult to accomplish on your own as a newbie but doable if you are very disciplined. Having a group or a coach to ask questions and encourage you is great motivation to complete any of these programs.

Once you have completed the cleanse, what's next? Having a plan BEFORE you start a cleanse is critical for long term success. Otherwise, you will quickly slide back to old ways. Ask yourself these questions on WHY you are doing the cleanse.

  • Do I need a total reset with lifestyle changes?

  • Do I just need my regular cleanse?

  • Am I working on disease prevention?

  • Am I working on healing from an illness or disease?

Depending on your personal situation, you can create a post-cleanse meal plan to continue with your long-term goals. Most people will find mental and spiritual healing through the process. Taking baths and meditation is helpful during a cleanse. Your dreams may be more vivid. You may have more clarity and focus throughout the day.

If you have a pre-existing condition, consult your doctor and/or therapist. If you are taking any medications, a certified herbalist or naturopath can also look at any herbs to see if there are any counteractions.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is NOT advised to do any of the above protocols. There are other ways to cleanse that are more appropriate and gentle. A morning glass of lemon (or lime) water or cucumber juice may be great options for most people.

Happy Cleansing!
