Embrace Change with a Positive Attitude

Currently, I am undergoing a change. Expectantly yet unexpectantly, I was released from my corporate job. After 30 years of Corporate America starting full time at Sears and ending at the Sears Tower, I am facing the idea of full-time entrepreneurship.

Change can be tough, scary, or exciting. It challenges us to push us out of our comfort zone. But here’s the thing: growth never happens without change. I had been comfortable with stable benefits and biweekly paycheck. There some positions I felt highly motivated and fulfilled. Others end up stagnant and dull for whatever reason. Up until now, I shifted when I saw warning signs and was proactive to make changes.
This time was different. At my age, I did not have the energy to go through the six months to year process of applying, reapplying to industry positions. I was going to hang on for as long as possible. I had a vision of how I wanted the next 10 to 15 years to look like. I manifested a way out of the repeated cycle.
I am not mad.
I am not disappointed.
I actually feel nothing.
My greatest emotion has been from the support I have received during this transitional time. People show their true colors when the sh*t hits the fan. Be aware of your biggest supporters and those who go radio silent.
I am grateful for all the previous opportunities and experiences, but looking back is not an option. My parents taught me to always keep my head held high and move forward.
I see this as opportunity to reinvent myself. I have time to learn a new skill or two, reconnect with previous colleagues and acquaintances, and build my own business. This shift may help me, help others in their own pursuit of balanced work and life to manage stress for better physical and mental health.
When you keep a positive attitude during the hard transitions, you THRIVE. Your mindset can turn obstacles into opportunities. By staying hopeful, focused, and patient, the universe will reward you. Trust the process. Every shift is leading you closer to something better.
Hugs and Love,
MsAprilDanielle
