OH MY Waist Beads!

I recently had a lovely experience making my own waist beads with MzAprilLynne at her Sprinkle Dazzle Collection boutique. She had us set intentions before our session to be prepared for our experience. She prepared her shop for two hours of creating, sharing, and encouraging each other to create waist beads that resonates with our spirit.

Waist beads can be used for several reasons.

  1. Rites of passage as a symbol of womanhood

  2. Sex appeal for intimacy or seduction

  3. Body shaping

  4. Modern Fashion

My waist beads are for body shaping. Over the last month or so, I have been stress eating over my class final deadlines, the fate of my kids education due to a teacher walk out, and the holidays rolled up into one. At some point, I have to stop the nonsense and get back on track. When April posted her event, I thought it would be a great incentive to monitor my progress without stepping on the scale which can be deceptive and discouraging. Plus, the waist beads are pretty made with love and specific reasons behind every color and each bead.

I walked out of her boutique with my mind set to make the shift. Since that day, I have created my personalized detox plan. The goal is to permanently shift my lifestyle. I know my inherent weakness of eczema and allergies. To prevent histamine flare ups, there are a few things that I CANNOT eat regularly. This includes the following:

  • Sugar

  • Dyes

  • Nuts

  • Wheat

  • Soy

  • Pineapples (no wonder why it tastes funny to me)

  • Refined flours

  • Dairy

  • Eggs

  • Fish

It has taken years of trying to figure out what does not work well for my body. This not only included foods, but anything that goes onto my skin and hair. I have endured skin breakouts from having a couple of mixed cocktails, chain store lotions and soaps, or a slab of birthday cake with whipped cream icing (do you want your icing because I will definitely eat it for you!). During these first two semesters of Naturopathic Mastery, I have become my first client. My personal assessments confirmed what I knew through trial and error over the last 15 -25 years of my life and added a few more items onto my list of items to avoid.

Now, I can begin the real work of staying consistent to create a lifestyle that works for my body. And when you physically feel good, your mind and spirit can operation optimally with clarity.

Will I have my infamous favorite dirty chai tea lattes? Hell yeah! I will just have to limit them to an occasional treat or make them myself without the artificial sugars. There are plenty of herbal teas and coffee that I can enjoy!
